Fehmarn

When the tourism boom of the 1960s reached Fehmarn, the municipality decided to transform the peninsula and its southern beach into a proper seaside resort. They held an architectural competition - and the commission went to Arne Jacobsen from Denmark, still considered one of the most significant architects and designers of the 20th century.
